r1soft CDP Our R1Soft based OthelloBackup-CDP Enterprise service offers the only continuous data protection solution for both Linux and Windows server backups.

CDP is a high performance backup service, which enables Bare-Metal Restore (BMR) for disaster recovery in the event of disk failure.

Continuous Data Protection vs Traditional Backup

Most data backup systems (FTP Backup, Rsync, SCP and Software based backup tools) take a copy of the files at regular intervals. OthelloBackup-CDP takes data backup to the next level with block-level disk-based data protection. Rather than reading and backing up individual files, OthelloBackup-CDP backs up the drive partitions on a block-by-block basis. This allows for near-Continuous Backups, capable of providing multiple individual recovery points per day, and direct restore to a new machine through BMR - saving critical hours installing and configuring the OS, reinstalling applications and recreating configuration settings - essential in the event of a disater.

File Level Backup and Restore

CDP is not meant as a replacement of traditional backup techniques (the question is not what backup technology to use, but rather how many to use to cover all eventualities)
